USB-A ports on back of KVM don't work anymore

KVM Model:

1.4 Display Port KVM Switch - Dual Monitor - Two Computer

USB Interface (5-gigabit or 10-gigbit):

5-gigabit

Problem:

The USB-A ports on the back of the KVM no longer work. I have had the KVM for just longer than 1 year and today I was unplugging and replugging in some accessories in the ports in the back of the USB-A. Suddenly, they don’t work at all anymore, I tried several combinations of plugging things in. Normally, there’s as beep when I plug it in but there’s no beep anymore. What should i do?

Just the USB ports? Is the green light on the front?

Yes, just the USB ports. The green light works, both connected monitors are functioning as expected, and even the front USB-A ports are working

Is it the white and the blue usb ports? Or just one or the other? They’re connected differently to the KVM so just curious there.

Have you power cycled the KVM?

Only the white one’s don’t work (the ones that are labelled “console”)

The blue one is working on the back.

Does power cycling just entail unplugging and replugging it in?

Yes unplug for a few minutes and wait, then plug it back in. Have you had a change in peripherals?

Awesome  sometimes the HID stack can get messed up from USBs plugged in, firmware, etc. and a powerc cyle can kind of reset that so you’re starting on a clean slate.

This is becoming a daily problem for me. I turn on my computer and the USB-A ports aren’t working in the back. I power cycle but even then only 1 out of the 3 USB-A ports is working. Is there something wrong with my KVM?

the hid ports are meant for hid devices. hid means driverless. Something in a hid port is crashing the hid stack. One problem hid device can stop the other hid ports from working.

What devices are plugged into those ports? what changed recently?

This actually gave me the info to solve issues I’ve been having with a TrendNet KVM.

Logitech receivers (mine is for an MX Master 3 mouse) may cause issues when plugged into the HID ports.

Just wanted to say thanks for the info and to encourage the OP (and others) to try removing devices from the HID ports to see if the issues improve.
