Usable RAM issue ----> 7.94gb of 16gb

Ok so this a brand new build. 

The goods: 

Windows 8.1 Enterprise 

msi A88xm MB

16gb Kingston HyperX Beast 2400mhz ram "4x4"

 

Now I noticed that it is not using all the available ram. I thought to myself maybe one wasn't seated properly so I took them all out and inspected it and everything looks good there. So naturally I went into msconfig and advanced boot option and no check on the memory so then i went to msinfo32 to double check it there and it shows 16gb installed usable 7.94. I reset everything a few times with luck.

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

did you go into your bios and set it into quad channel mode?

HMMMMM let me check i did have to set them at 2400 but not sure on quad

check how much your gpu is using.  My 7970 uses 4gb of ram.  Yes this is system memory.  XFX told me to RMA it but I didn't because going without a computer isn't worth it.

You also can't get Quad Channel on that motherboard.  It only supports Dual Channel.

bummer. went threw the bios with no luck.

Ok so i turned on the XMP feture and it now shows 16gb of 16gb. Weired huh Seems good now
