US switch to Metric petition

get with the times, Imperial is stupid.

... not at all.... you nevetr have problems halving imperial measurements, but wit metric, you get wierd numbers

it's like telling someone used to adobe to use vegas. they both work, but why make him learn a whole new way of doing things. and btw, lots of people use both, like me. depending on what i'm doing, i'll use metric or imperial

But their's no need for a second system, plus considering Metric is base 10 formed around water its the best system for humans. Its easier to say 100ml than 1 teaspone and precise

no, it's not. base 12 is really easy to divide.... half a foot is 6 inches, half a meter is like 50 cm. 1/4 of a foot is 3", 1/4 of a meter is like 25 cm. try finding an eigth

but thats pretty irrelevant when you can just say 10,20,30 and so one. the only reason you have fractions is because your systems limitations with precise mesurement.

...ummm, it's no diffrent than metric in that regard. the multimeter is capable of readin to the thousandths of an inch

yet, we can still roundto a very close fraction if we wish. try that with metric

to begin with, British Imperial units and US Standard units are not the same although some units overlap, many are different

actually the US has technically been using the metric system since it was implemented as the standard in the 80s, and road signs were all supposed to be metric, but it was a failure and they were all taken down and people hated it.

on another note, mexico is now teaching the US standard system as the default units and canada is teaching it as a second system, and pueto rico has adopted it as their default unit along with liberia and albania

The US standard system is ironically becoming more popular and being used by more countries now than it was 25 years ago

I was just down in Pueto rico and they used Metric, I live in Canada, they teach us metric and nothing else. 0/10 full of shit

no, you are the one full of shit

in puerto rico all road signs are us imperial units, and since 2005 canda has taught imperial as a second system

I live in Canada, I'm in grade 11, we have never been taught imperial, EVER I've lived in 3 provinces and they don't teach it, nor is it in the curiculume. Also that article only covers one province (whcih I lived in till 08) not the entire country.

still gagining in popularity and usage compared to metric, and using a stallman avatar makes you seem like a freetard neckbeard even if its a parody

well, they probably are ageing it in starting in elementary. any why dis the imperial system, if ya don't know it?

1500 millimeters to kilometers and 150 inches to miles

  • 1500 mm = 150 cm = 1.5 m = 0.0015 km
  • 150 in = 12.5 ft = 4.16667 yd = 0.00236742 mi

I'm not "dissing" the imperial system, but it seems very unlogical for me.

I doubt they will cahnge it but it is worth a shot.

You're just defending it because you're used to it.

well, we usually skip the yards. it helps, trust me.

and I work in cad software all the time, and I prefer the english measurements.... lot easier to halve stuff. and it's easy for everyday use too

I could say the same.... and yard really are not used that much in everyday situations....

well metric is more concise, imperial is a lol really. its just a different increment paridigm. but if your mathmatician, scientist or engineer. then metric is where its at now, also scientists prefer kelvin :P
