Urgent! ssd boot

so i decided to upgrade from a hdd to an ssd, so i installed a fresh copy of window onto my ssd and tried to boot but it wouldent load, so now im left with a hdd with windows and a ssd with windows, i want my ssd to boot and then the hdd as a storage drive, sorry if theres a few grammar mistakes, different keyboard.

What is your boot order? You should make sure your SSD is first. I'm sorry if this seems obvious, I just have no idea what your technical level is.

could be bios settings. hopefully the connection to the SSD is in AHCI mode

He should still be able to boot in IDE mode.

its ssd the hdd in boot order its in ide mode and whenever it tries to boot without the hdd plugged in i just get a bootmgr error? ive been trying quite alot to get this to work, and my technical level is decent but this as ruined me, i just cant figure it out, and ive googled it and still no solution

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that when you installed the OS on the SSD, the HDD was plugged in. If that is the case, you should go ahead wipe your SSD, switch it to AHCI  if your mobo supports it, unplug your HDD and then install windows on your SSD. You can then plug in your HDD after windows is installed on your SSD. If windows detects another drive with windows during the installation it creates a boot manager on the other drive. When both devices are plugged in and you try to boot from the HDD, do you get an option to boot into two different windows "X" operating systems?

This may also help you, but I've never tried it so I can't say for certain.
