I’m trying out Ubuntu 18.04 for gaming, I’ve seen all the news and stuff recently and figured what the heck. I’m trying to get Uplay working on Ubuntu 18.04 (my favorite game to play is Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege) and I’m having a lot of difficulties. I’m wondering if anyone has figured out how to get either Uplay or Siege working? I’ve tried using the steam for linux for siege and I’ve tried both Lutris and PlayOnLinux for Uplay. Thanks in advance!
From what I have heard, everyone is having problems with Uplay in Wine and Proton. Have you gotten any other Windows only games running in steam with Proton?
I searched for information on your game. There just isn’t much information on anything right now. Proton has been in beta for little over a week.
Steam has said that heavy anti cheat programs and DRM was going to be difficult if not impossible. If there is workaround for Uplay it will have to come from the Linux community or Steam.
I don’t see Ubisoft being any help whatsoever.
Thanks for the info, as for other games I’ve only tested Rocket League and CS:GO, both work flawlessly for me
Those are both Linux ports:) I just downloaded the free version of CSGO for my nephews. You can only shoot bots but I don’t think my sister wants them anywhere near that community.
Have you seen this yet?
Ah. I haven’t, is it necessary for getting proton to work, or just addon stuff?
These are video drivers and completely necessary. I didn’t have them and couldn’t launch a single non Linux game.
Not game specific, but i’ve gotten Rocksmith to work, which is Ubisoft too and uses Uplay Login at start. I didn’t have to do anything for it to work.
One thing though, i had RS installed on Windows before and it seems to remember my Ubi Login from that. It still signs me in every time i start it, but i don’t have to enter any credentials anymore. On AC Black Flag i didn’t have much luck. I get the login page, but entering my Credentials it can’t contact Ubi Servers. so… 50/50 for my on Ubisoft Games.
I’m downloading Rainbow six Siege now to see if I can get it to work. However I have my doubts, most every game I have tried with Anti-Cheat has failed to play online.
I’ve got a working UPlay version w/ lutris.
I was following cxf’s guide here
Right-click Wine on the sidebar > Configure > Check “Show advanced options” and make sure “Disable Lutris runtime” is unchecked.
Thats all I did beside of installing UPlay via Lutris.
