So i bought myself a QNAP xeon hardware box. one of those where the motherboard is vertical in its chassi.
It’s a regular PC , as Windel has demonstrated in his video on the subject.
The cooling system is a typical 2U radiator, with a blowtype fan (two if it’s high end qnap).
IF you upgrade the cpu (from say w1250 to W1290P), it will work, but the fan will be blowing full speed as soon as you stress the cpu.
which gets very very loud.
I would not recommend the upgrade. In my usecase, The noise upgrade was such that i downgraded back to the 1250 cpu.
The P version is the “high tdp version” and maybe if I could have put in a 1290p it would have been okay, but I couldn’t find any.
