Upgrading to a SSD

So this is my first time upgrading to an ssd. TBH I don't really need it but it would be kinda cool so I'm looking to spend the least money possible. I'm looking for the best price:preformance cheap 120gb ( or 128gb idk around that ) ssd out there.

I have not researched that much but it seems like the best cheap 120gb price:preformance SSD out there is the Kingston V300 120gb ssd. It has a read and write of up to 450MB/s and a custom lsi controller. It comes in at about £45 which is pretty dam good. Any tips or better ones.

Side Question: I'm new to ssd's I mean I've known they existed for ages and seen a ton of reviews of them but this is the first time actually buying one. Kingston brands it as being 10x times faster then the normal 7200rpm drive ( which I actually have: Segate Barracuda 1tb). If the read and write of a normal 7200rpm drive is around 130MB/s how the this kingston drive with 450MB/s be 10x times faster?

Thanks

reallly... you sure.. even in the uk

what should i get then

Of these three

I ended up returning the v300 and getting an intel 520 series just to be safe :)

Kingston did a revision to the v300 and the flash on it now is not reliable and a lot slower then it previously was. In that range you can get a much faster, reliable drive. I wouldn't trust a revised v300 for a os drive. Its shown to be to unreliable after the flash switch.

Ok.  Let's clear this up.

Stay away from the Kingston V300 and other V-line of SSDs.  They have changed to asynchronous flash, which results in MUCH, MUCH lower performance.  It's pathetic performance for an SSD, and actually isn't a whole lot faster than an HDD.

All the three SSDs you listed in your post will be just fine, though.

Screw it, I think i'm just gonna go all out and get a 840 evo

Before you do, have you confirmed your have SATA-III (6Gbp/s). How new is your machine and what is it?
