Upgrading to a GTX 980

hello everyone :D

 

i plan on buying a GTX 980 strix when they come out.

my own guess is that i will dont be bottlenecked by the rest of my components, but i wanted to just check with you guys.

so do you see anything you guys think i will be bottlenecked by ?

mostly i am thinking about the pci express 2.0 16X slot and and the cpu ?

 

Intel i7 2600k @ 4.4 Ghz @ 1.305V

MSI P67S-C43  (only has one PCI express 2.0 16X slot that i plan on using for the graphics card)

MSI GTX 570 (in the system now)

16 GB G.skill Sniper 1.25V 1600 Mhz timings 9-9-9-24

256 GB Samsung 830 series 

1 TB Samsung HDD and 1 TB older WD HDD

Coolermaster GX 750W 80+ bronze certified PSU

No graphics card has been able to saturate a full PCIe 2.0 x16 slot.  It won't bottleneck.

i7-2600k @ 4.4ghz will handle it just fine.  It's still a very capable CPU.

Yeah that would feel like a new rig again.

IMO if you're going to open the case up. apply fresh thremal paste on the cpu

I have done some research and not seeing a need for PCIe 3.0 over 2.0 yet so you will be fine.
