Lets Start off by saying that i want to know if i should upgrade to 970 Card from my 760 sli.
all i play are 1080p res games not really wanting to play 4k and well all i hear is future proofing if i go buy 970 and for any future features for the 900s cards well i need better input then watching countless vids about card spec. just want to know if its worth just to upgrade to a single card from the sli i have, and how long do i have you think with these 760 sli will last until i would need to upgrade.
there is no such thing as future proofing sadly.....if u have the money to burn sure go ahead but soon enough there will always be a new model coming out
endless cycle :(
only point to upgrading seems to reduce power and heat of your system
Your GPU was released back last year in May, 2013ish. I wouldn't call that out of date. A single 760 is only 20-30 FPS from a 970 on BF4 @ 1080p. From Anandtech's GPU benchmark's it looks like a OC'ed 780 that's it. I would rather wait for AMD's 300 series release and wait for nvidia prices to drop. Graphics pretty much plateau'ed these last 4 years.
Unless you feel like you need the urgent need to sell your 760s for cash value before they crash down under 150 bucks. And you're loaded sure go ahead and do it.
Actually two 760s(I don't know what company your's from eVGA, Asus, MSI?) But at least in benchmarks they perform about as much as a single 780 TI, sometimes better, sometimes worse, but, ofc, a single 970 draw 35 watt less than 1 760, so if you wanna save a bit on your powerbill, and also heatoutput I would go with the 970s, how, from a performance standpoint, it's not worth it, the 760s will outperform it. not by much, but they will.
