Upgrading ssd advice

Hi I currently have a 1 tb wd black in the I system containing os and all other files. I was wondering if it is possible to transfer the os if I happen to upgrade to an ssd as I want to use the ssd as the boot drive? I understand that some people use acronis true image software but would that clone everything identically or just parts I specifically want? One last thing, can I do this using acronis true image trial version or do I have to buy a full version.

thanks in advance.

Backup all data on an external drive, then install os and drivers on SSD. Intel's SSD's come with there own cloning software if you wanted to go that route.

When I got my SSD the retailer had an offer where you got a free copy of true image so it might be worth looking for something similar. Failing that I've seen Kingston "Upgrade kits" with cloning software and a cables and adapters.
Personally I'd probably just do a fresh install of the OS on the SSD then backup the stuff I want on the HDD and format that before copying the stuff back over.

I recommend a clean install.
