Upgrading PC: GTX 970 or i5 4690k w/ new mobo?

I'm wanting to upgrade my pc soon. I'm wanting to get a MSI GTX 970, but if I do that my FX 6300 might bottleneck it on certain games. So I thought about getting a i5 4690k and a good gaming motherboard then upgrading the video card later. Both are around $360 each. I'm kind of stuck on what I should do. AMD doesn't really offer the performance Intel has right now so I can't keep my motherboard. I only have around $400 and I would have to buy either the i5+MOBO or MSI GTX 970.

Thanks for the help.

SPECS:
CPU: AMD FX 6300 3.5ghz
COOLER: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
MOBO: MSI 970A-G43
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 8gb
STORAGE: WD 1tb
GPU: MSI Radeon HD 7850 2gb
PSU: Corsair CX500M
CASE: CM HAF 912

I think I would get the GTX 970 now, and upgrade the CPU later. The FX 6300 is not amazing, but probably won't be too much of a bottleneck for now. Also, the GTX 970 is just an amazing value for the high end range it is in, where performance/price starts to drop very fast.
