i think my "box" is big enoughbfor upgrading. I have heard dayz is very cpu intensive..
i think i prefer a intel cpu and nvidia gpu
Sorry for my crappy english!
this may be messy since i made it on my ipad..
thankfull for all help.
The reason i am uprading is since i get low fps on dayz mod and the SA. DayZ has been the game i have been most passionate about and i don't feel like i get the whole experience with 30-35 fps in woods and 10-30 in cities (depends on where i look)
for those games get a i5 4670k is the only way to go if you want to play games based off the Arma engine such as Dayz and of course Arma. Get just the i5 and motherboard first then a gpu later because just the processor alone will give you much better fps in Dayz.
well, i used to play day z fine on a A6 APU... no lag, no skipping, it is a very CPU intensive game, which is why i personally would stick with the 6100, try for the 6300, ARMA 2 is not meant to be played at high textures.. thats ridiculous the engine for that game was fairly piss poor, but its a great game, but yes i would say stay with the AMD.. it will not break your budget at all, and also peripherals mean keyboards, mice, monitor, that type of thing. Also if you are asking what you should upgrade... i would just say GPU, if you prefer nvidia, try for a 760. The FPS you are telling me that you get in the woods and the city, sounds very normal, for example. i played arma 2 day z mod on my old crap box, then i got $1300 dollars worth of PC, and no difference in FPS... i think for me that game is more so about the story you make, not how many frames you get or how many people you kill.
your motherboard will be fine with nvidia graphics.
your CPU is not a bad cpu at all. you could upgrade to a 8350 or 8320, but i don't think it would bring you much performance gains unless you are into overclocking. Yes Dayz is cpu intensive, but the money you'd have to spend to get a big difference from what you have now would be absurd unless it's that important to you. If you decide to switch to intel, yes you're going to need a new motherboard. If you decide to stick with AMD, you can still upgrade in a very cost/performance efficient way. Either way you go, you can use NVIDIA or AMD graphics
I personally think a new GPU is the best thing you could do right now. If you want NVIDIA, just grab a 650 or better (cheap), or 750 or better (higher end). If you do that, you can just swap out your 6870, & see how it performs. If you're still not happy, you can go head and upgrade you CPU to the fx8350 or fx8320. Or both CPU/motherboard and switch to intel
