Upgrading my system to help build my GF a system. (GPU upgrade)

So I just recently switched to a Bit Fenix Neos case, new Ultra semi-mod 650W PSU, and MSI Gaming 970 mobo on my system and the wifey has expressed an interest in having her own system. I still need a cpu for hers and will most likely be upping my cpu from an FX 6100 to an 8350 this week so that I can give her the 6100. My real dilemma right now is deciding what GFX card I should look for to either "upgrade" to or replace my current XFX R9 270X 2G with.

I want to give her my 270x since she doesn't play anything other than Minecraft, Saint's Row, and Gary's Mod and the system I'm building for her is using my old PNY GTX 650 currently. I'm wanting however to get better performance out of my system to play heavily modded Skyrim, Witcher 3, GTAV and other new titles, and at least be able to get decent framerate while recording (30-35fps). Problem I am having is with my budget, I'm not looking to spend much more than 200-240 for a card, sticking with Radeon and either an MSI or Asus card (my system has a black and red theme) would be ideal, however I'm open to switching to an MSI Nvidia card. That 200-240 price range also isn't a "I only have this much" situation it's a "this is what I'm willing to spend on a card right now" situation.

So TL;DR:
Have an XFX R9 270X 2GB DD Edition GFX card, wanting to pass it on to my girlfriend for her system, and want to upgrade/replace it with an MSI or Asus(red/black) card that hopefully will have better performance for around $200-$240.

Not sure if you're in the US, but I watched this earlier today and thought the performance/price ration is pretty good!
Check it out and hope it help.
TL:DR MSi R9 390 Gaming 8GB for <$400.

I have checked out that video myself actually haha. I would love to step up to the 390 however I've heard there are a lot of issues with the drivers and this car din particular isn't very good at power consumption, but it will still be a strong contender if I decide to go above my ideal price point.

IF it helps anyone I do have Amazon Prime and have seen slightly cheaper prices on there compared to Newegg.

Sorry I totally read your price point wrong... thought you said 200-400. Whoops.
But maybe 280s will be coming down in price soon, and that miiight just be around 240.

It's all good, and I would love to get a 390 but for what I do with my system and how often I use it, a sub 350-400 dollar card just doesn't fit my price to perf sweet spot and budget.

Would anybody suggest going to a GTX card instead of an AMD card, a friend of mine is selling his 4G GTX 770 for $200.

see if you can pick up a R9-380 2GiB model. they are round 200 bucks right now and it performs better than the 270x.

Gigabyte 4gb r9 380, $230.

I actually just found the same card on CL for $225, and as much as I would like to keep to MSI parts it will probably be what I go with if he still has the card available.
