Upgrading my PC, What to get and why?

Hello everyone,

First off, thank you for taking your time to help me and I really appreciate it. I'm not extremely new to computers in general but I'm not totally sure what I'm doing yet, especially when it comes to hard ware.

Now then, about 1 1/2 years ago I found the console killer build on youtube by none other then the Tek team. (Link for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6kFRalEq-M). Skipping to about a week ago, I upgraded my GPU and found that my case was WAY to small to comfortably fit everything, the upgraded power supply didn't help either. So I've been looking to upgrade and realized I had no clue what I was looking for in a case/motherboard. So that's why I'm here now.

To save you time, the Current parts I am trying to upgrade are the following:

-Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D3V Micro ATX LGA1155

-CPU: Intel Pentium G860 3.0GHz Dual-Core Processor

-Case: Rosewill R218-P-BK-450W ATX Mid Tower Case

Extras that I have but am not looking at upgrading (Just for your information):

-Graphics Card: GEFORCE GTX 760 superclocked

-PowerSupply: Rosewill 630-Watt Green Series 80 PLUS Certified.

My biggest problem currently is my case, I've broken broken 2 sata cords so far by the clips snapping off because they're at too sharp of an angle, and why I reasoned a larger case would be needed.

The second would be the Motherboard, this is because whenever I start my computer, it likes to just hang at the splash screen for a few mintes, along with the fact that I might as well upgrade my motherboard If I'm getting a new case.

Last on the priority list is the cpu. The cpu is last because it was a last minute suggestion by a friend saying that 4th gen cpus won't fit in my current Motherboard socket, so might as well upgrade while I'm at it.

Now the same friend recommended an Intel I5 4670k as a cpu, and I thought that would fit my needs pretty well but thought I'd get a few other opinions just in case. My total budget is would be around $350-$400 although I can increase it a little if need be.

Thank you again

If you want to stick with intel, here's a good upgrade path.

Again with my little knowledge on this subject, but I can't help but notice the motherboard you suggested is also a micro atx, in fact it's actually smaller. May I ask why you selected this case in particular?

Other then my lack of knowledge there, the rest of The build looks solid, though I'll have to measure out my current case just to get an idea of its dimensions properly.

There's not much need for expansion slots besides one for the GPU.  It was cheaper as well, and the B85 chipset can't handle more than one graphics card, so again, there's no real benefit of having a larger motherboard.

The case is a great budget case.  It can fit pretty much all 120mm coolers(some other cheaper cases have problems fitting large coolers) and has a lot of features for the price.  Considering how you managed to break two SATA cables in your case, a mid-tower ATX case should be good(suspecting your old case was micro-atx).

Alright then, I'll do a little more digging but these parts look solid to me, I'll report back sometime later

I'd go this route... 8-core processor, nice mobo with overclockability, very nice silent CPU cooler for overclocking, and a really nice budget SSD...

but if you insist on Intel at this budget (which really isn't a good budget for Intel-based upgrades), you'll not do much better than Tech Noob's upgrade path...
