So I am planning on upgrading from an athlon 2 x4 640 with a gtx 560ti to a new build for primarily gaming but possibly some light video editing and more likely some live streaming.
This is what I plan on upgrading to http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/LunchboxSpec/saved/nbtNnQ.
Some things to note are that I already have the PSU and the HDD and I don't intend on buying both 970's at once. Will do some overclocking and currently only playing on 1080p but this will probably change in the future, most likely when I get the second 970.
Anything that needs changing please let me know. I live in the UK and this is about the budget that I plan to spend. This needs to last a minimum of about 4 years
Final note is that it doesn't have to be a blue colour scheme but I do want it to look good.
Edit - Would also like to know how the i5 will handle two 970's
build looks good... the i5 is a fine gaming processor and shouldn't bottleneck anything... I might consider splurging on a bit better motherboard... as low-end mobos with high-end parts seems a bit out of balance (and a computer is the sum of it's parts)... but if you looked over the features and decided that's all you need... build it and have fun gaming...
I would recommend reusing the 780Ti on the new build and wait for the gen 2 drop of the 900 series Nvidia GPUs ... also the MSI Z97-G55 SLI that you selected is OK at best for overclocking it is an 8 phase power design ... for more serious OCs I would suggest the
MSI Z97-GD65 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard as it has a very good 12 phase power design and much better on board sound .... well worth the 30 quid... it will change the color scheme though lol
Edit ... I know the price on the 3TB Seagate is tempting but read these before making your choice
I plan on getting most parts on black friday so if the deal is good enough I will get the i7. Would I get much benefit to HT now or would it be something that is more utilised in the future.
I have a 560Ti and the 3TB Seagate already from my current build. I will look into investing a little bit more into the motherboard as well since you think I can get more for my money by spending a bit more.
