I bought a CyberpowerPC about a year back and i now want to upgrade the computer. I want to know if my computer is possible to be upgrading. I want to know if Cyberpower provides extra wires for extra components or what? Thanks in advance
You mind linking the parts list or posting a picture of the inside of the machine.
Once we find out what current parts are in there we can get a better idea of what to upgrade.
You can download cpuz to see what motherboard and CPU you have.
It is possible. They're just normal computers like any pre- or custom-builts.
Which components do you want to upgrade?
What are your case, motherboard and power supply? Or just link to the PC's store page.
Here are the main components.
CAS: Cooler Master Elite 431
CPU: AMD FX-6300
HDD: 2TB
MEMORY: 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3/1866MHz
MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE 970A-DS3P
POWERSUPPLY: 600 Watts - Standard 80 Plus Certified
VIDEO: AMD Radeon R9 270X 2GB
Know anything more about the PSU? A decent 600W would handle an upgrade easily, but if it's some crappy bomb it could cause problems.
Also I see no problem with the case or motherboard. So what did you want to upgrade?
Some suggestions if you didn't have anything particular in mind:
An SSD for the OS would greatly improve the system speed and loading times.
A GPU upgrade would help a lot with games, a CPU upgrade with games and general performance. But I don't know the AMD CPU situation right now, FX-8350 might be the best option for a noticeable increase in performance.
edit: nevermind that part about FX-8350, I see there are some FX-9xxx CPUs out now.
PSU is pretty crappy tbh. the wiring from outlet to PSU is weak af so i think its just some crappy psu.
I want to upgrade my computer to get better performance from games
I have a very similar PC. I upgraded to a 290 (so maybe if you find one cheap, or a 390 if not), stuck a second HDD in got an SSD and personally a new case as the original I had was not great. I would not however recommend an 83xx anything with that motherboard and if you are only gaming you will not see much more out of it than the 6300 you all ready have. On the other hand a good cooler for the CPU will allow you to OC quite a bit with that CPU/Motherbaord. and the best part is you won't be wasting much money either in my eyes. I do think that upgrading any AMD motherboard/CPU is a bit of a waste at the moment. So with the other things in mind you will be able to carry over parts when money/better parts allow for better motherboards/CPU when they come.
Oh if course a better PSU too, sorry but you all ready had that in mind so it slipped mine.
Is there any brand name or model number on the PSU?
Not that i an tell, even from looking at the back sorry.
Sounds exactly like a bomb then.
If you want to buy a new one, I recommend Seasonic. They're one of the best, and make the high end models for other brands as well. IIRC the high end Corsairs for example are made by Seasonic.
Other brands are kind of hit and miss, they make some good ones (the high end models usually) and then some crappy ones, but I'm not aware of Seasonic ever releasing anything substandard.
Psu is the first thing to get upgraded when doing prebuilt mods. They are usually cheap and not equipped for increased power demands. On that note cyber power uses good psus sometimes so make sure its not a oem seasonic 400+ watt 80+ b4 chucking it.
