So, got a crap load of cash from a "Project Prom" (it was basically a LAN party.... the other day, spent some, but still have about 100 bucks left. Want to upgrade my PC because it seems to be getting a bit long in the tooth. Currently I have as follows
AMD Phenom II X4 955 BE OC'd at 3.838 Ghz 24/7 stable Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P XFX Radeon HD 4870 1 GB OC'd at 820/1100 <--feels kinda slow in games like GTA4, starts dropping below 30 FPS at times...RAGE 4 GB G.Skill DDR3 1600 9-9-9-20 times if I remember OCZ ModXstreme Pro 700 Watt PSU Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1 TB 32 MB cache Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 360 GB 8 MB cache Western Digital 160 GB Caviar 8 MB cache Samsung Spinpoint 160GB 7200 8 MB cache
Its all in a Coolermaster 690 case with plenty of fans and airflow.
I really want to maybe get a new GPU and maybe sell my current monitors and get a newer one that is just a higher res.
Looking at either trying to get another 4870 for crossfire, which would deny myself DX11, and would require me to use Molex to PCIe adapters (Damn this PSU) or getting a 5830. I heard that the new nVidia GTS 450 is supposed to come out this summer and out perform the 5830 at a lower price.. which would make me feel sick :|
I have a lot of PC crap that I need to sell just looking for the energy and time to put it all on eBay, any ideas on what you guys would do?
I would go with a xfx 5830 the cooler is fairly ugly on it but it performs the same as other 5830's but this one is the cheapest on the market by alot ;)
ignore the picture it's showing there 5750 for some reason the actually card has the same cooler but the card itself is longer
Second this idea. unless you mobo dosn't have intergrated graphics or any spare gpu's then you might want to think about wat to do with yourself with your comp temporarily out of service and is it worth it which i think it is
