Upgrades To My Gaming/Video Editing PC

So I have a computer called Arctic Wolf that I built out of slightly older parts and I was wondering what upgrades I can do for it to make it be able to play even more games and edit videos smoother and faster

So what's your budget for upgrades?

Gaming upgrade is clearly going to be the RX 480 when it comes out later this month, probably $250 for the 8gb version

far as CPU upgrades go, probably go big or go home man, although for a 5820K you'd probably need a higher end PSU. Or just get an i7 6700

I think the AMD RX 480 seems like a good GPU to upgrade to ans I'm thinking on waiting for ZEN to arrive before I upgrade and I'm also looking at the AMD A10 7890k to upgrade to maybe and just using that with a RX 480

Not worth buying any other FM2+ CPU

no clue when AM4 is coming out, but the CPU wouldn't be much faster in all likely hood until zen

Ok and one question do you also browse the LTT forum because I recgonize the name and profile pic

I am everywhere and yet nowhere

If I were looking to upgrade that rig for gaming and video editing, I would basically replace everything major. The cpu (APU) and gpu are pretty well matched, so upgrading one before the other isn't the best option. For example, a 480 would likely bottleneck in many games because of the 7650k, and wouldn't address teh editing problem as that is entirely cpu bound. Upgrading the cpu to something hefty like an i5 or Zen would really help with editing but wouldn't do much for gaming. The easiest upgrade would be the storage. Dropping in an SSD would be a good speed boost all around (at least for any loading times). It might help the editing situation as that is often bound by storage speed.

Zen and a 480 or 490 would be a massive boost in all around performance, so if possible, wait until you can upgrade basically everything. And don't forget that you will likely need new ram regardless of going Intel or Zen at this point.
