Upgraded to X5650 ram issues

Hi All,

upgraded to a new Xeon X5650 from my old i7 920.

Seemed to have gone okay intil I checked my ram.

I have an Asus P6X58D-E. The cpu was an unused Xeon X5650.

I did some media encoding and ran the windows performance index. Its only when I went to about your system that I noticed the ram was on 4GB and not 6GB.

So I thought great I will have to check the ram. I cycled through each stick each one booted and was recognized as 2GB dimms.

The dimms are layed out at follows.:

A1 and A2, B1 and B2, C1 and C3

Before I ram A1, B1, C1

Now I can use A1 and B1 for 4GB or A1, A2 and B1 for 6GB.

The moment I use C1 the bios cycles a few times before booting and then falls back to 4GB. My only guess is to redo the CPU swap all over again :-/ However I fear that might bork it further.

Fixed I have upgraded to two Patriot 8GB sticks, no problems. Happy days.
