So I just installed my new 90gb Kingston HyperX into my computer, installed windows, and set up my old HDD to be a secondary drvie.
- Is there any easy way to move programs from my old HDD to my SSD.
I've just been reinstalling most programs I want on my SSD, but Steam refuses to install on my SSD.
- How do I get it to install on my SSD so I can have some games boot off my SSD and some off my HDD?
Also, when I boot, I'm confronted with a screen that asks which OS to boot from. Both options say Windows 7. I click on the first one, and it boots from my SSD (I'm scared to click teh second one).
- How do I get rid of this prompt?
All help is appreciated.
1.no, you will have to manually transfer the programs yourself, unless you want to clone the HDD to the SSD using cloning software.
2.Make sure you have removed steam from your HDD first, and then restarted. Also it should give you the option of where you want to install games when you install one.
3.This is because you probably still have windows installed on your HDD, and windows is getting confused.
The solution is to transfer all the files you want to keep to your SSD, and format your HDD, erasing it,w hich is wwhat you should have done in the first place.
Hope this helps, regards
SoLz.
Also, whenever you install a game on steam, it should ask you which hard drive you want to install it on, so if there are some games you want on your SSD and others you want on your HDD just choose one or the other when the prompt shows up.
