Had the time to finally upgrade my PC and now a week later into diagnostics starting to regret it. I swapped out the Motherboard, RAM and CPU in my old setup for an MSI MPG x570 Gaming Edge Wifi, Ryzen 3800X and (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance Pro @3000MHz. With a clean install of windows onto my SSD I expected the machine to run smooth again, not the case. First thing I noticed was that the “Shutdown” and “Restart” buttons were not responding. Then after a bit the whole start menu could not be brought up. After swapping out all of my parts individually and only running the system off of one drive at a time I was able to get the system working, only for a little bit as it seemed the system would fail after a little while and revert back to a nonfunctioning start menu.
This prompted me to return the motherboard as I booted to linux and was still having the issue running it off of a Flash Drive for a while. Got the new motherboard and the issue still persists. I cannot hit the start menu or access the shut down or restart commands often and now my windows 10 license isn’t being read, I believe due to the amount of installs I had to run while troubleshooting.
After doing one last windows install to try to get it back to a working state again, the machine now kills power after being on the desktop for more than a few minutes. It seems like everything I am trying to do to fix this issue is in fact, making it worse at every turn. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated as I have searched for this issue and have yet to be able to pinpoint anything specific.
The only thing that seems to be consistent is when the computer reads my GPU it updates the drivers and that appears to trigger the failure of the start menu as it works usually before then. I don’t know how to stop it from automatically grabbing that update or how to use my computer without it.
