Hello, I was just wondering which GPU to choose between the GTX 670 , GTX 770 and GTX 660ti, and weather the performance difference between these cards are significant enough to justify the price difference. I'm doing this to upgrade to my pre-built Asus system, which I plan to compleletly overhaul besides the CPU , HDD , optical drive, RAM, and OS since my system is very unbalanced. I currently have a Intel i7 3770, 16gb of adata 1600 ddr3, blue ray drive, mini itx h77 motherboard 2tb Seagate barracuda, and a GT 620. I plan to replace/ add to with the following:
Asus p8 z77 v
GTX 770 670 or 660ti
Crucial m500/ samsung 840 pro 128 gb
Fractal design Define R4
Cooler master hyper 212 EVO
Thank you in advance !
The GTX 770 is just a rebranded GTX 680 with a higher clock speed. The GTX 660TI is a little weaker than a Radeon HD 7950, and the GTX 670 trades blows with the Radeon HD 7950...unless AMD's drivers have given the 7950 a distinct advantage over it, but I think they're around the same performance.
Unless you're doing anything that requires CUDA, then the Radeon HD 7970 will be your best bet. You can easily overclock it to perform better than the GTX 770, and it has more VRAM which means it will be able to handle higher resolutions and more overall detail.
If you're going to be using CUDA for certain video editing or 3D rendering programs, then go for the GTX 770. If you're just going to be gaming, then go for the Radeon HD 7970.
If you have the extra money, a GTX 780 is going to absolutely destroy everything except for the GTX Titan which is still king.
Thanks for your help. But I do want things like advanced PhysX and CUDA so I think I'll try to go with a 770 or try to get a 780. Thanks again.
