I currently have a rather old Asus ROG Strix B350-F with a Ryzen 5700G and 48GB of DDR4-2933 RAM. I recently upgraded to an RTX 4070, and am wondering if jumping up to PCIe 4.0 or faster RAM would provide any benefit.
I know there’s been some drama surrounding Asus lately - or at least some Youtubers have been creating some drama. Any thoughts there, or whether this board would offer anything over my old B350 board?
Also of note is that I would like to run a gaming VM, preferably with VMware ESXi, which actually works fine on my old B350. That said, Proxmox isn’t out of the question, it’s just I’ve had trouble getting full performance out of Ryzen chips in the past with KVM.
You could try overclocking the ram to 3200MT/s or 3600MT/s. If anything, I’d keep an eye out for deals you could get on upgrading the CPU if you’d like to run virtual machines.
