I know there are tons and tons of 8350 vs 3570k threads. This isn't one of those. Ok, I lied, it is. But I have a story...
Many blue moons ago, I built a new computer and foolishly purchased an AMD FX-8150. Not wanting to tell the wife with my bad choice I told her it was great... but you can only lie to yourself for so long.
Thinking it was the video card (EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti FPB) that was letting me down, I purchased a new one (EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW) and had a good increase in performance, but I could still tell something was wrong. I was expecting to be blown away after moving from my several year old PC and I wasn't :(.
As you can imagine, I was pretty bummed and avoided playing PC games for a few months. I went into a deep PC gaming withdraw. My wife would find me just sitting in my computer chair in the middle of the night looking at blank screens and she would constantly find my in the fetal position in the shower with nothing but the cold water on.
Joking aside, I just placed and canceled an order for an Intel i5-3570K and new mobo after I saw the videos for the FX-8350. However, I'm still very on the fence. I've always favored AMD, but the 8150 has left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. A very, very bad taste.
So what I really need from you all is to just give me a swift push to the one side or the other. The fence is started to hurt my bum from sitting on it and I have to do something. I don't mind spending the coin to get the new mobo and Intel... but at the same time I could get the FX-8350 and put the rest towards to GPU and run SLi.
I use my PC for mostly gaming. The typical Half-Life, Arma II/III Alpha, a few racing sims and that's it really.
