Upgrade, Rebuild, Or Wait For New System?

You can actually get an add-on PCB from Overlord and take that 1440p panel to 120hZ. Some of them come at 80, 100, etc. hZ out of the box, or will "overclock" to it.

This one look sweet

Where can I get the OC one?

More expensive than I remember.

Can

Be OCed with that add on?

To my knowledge, yes, the Catleaps work with it.

Definitely want to get into 1440p, any recommendations? I'd really like invest in a Shimian, unfortunately I see that a lot are sold out for the cheap price.

I'm looking into 1440p.

Check out some of these benchmarks to make sure that you get a card that can adequately drive games at 1440p (check the graphs to make sure you are looking at the right resolution). Might want something like a 780. But keep in mind that games like Crysis 3 and Metro are hard to run at high frame rates regardless of how good your gpu is.

Do note that there are many other games in that review which you should look at as well.

The Asus one is really good :)

Here are the upgrades I'm looking towards. Along with the ASUS or the Overlord 120hz 1440p monitor. Good investment?

CPU Cooler:  Corsair H60 54.0 CFM  Liquid CPU Cooler  ($59.99 @ Newegg)

Memory:  Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($62.99 @ Microcenter)

Storage:  Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($219.99 @ NCIX US)

The video card looks good. I would probably go with this monitor (good price, ships from the US and supposedly pixel perfect for a good price).

For ram, I think that going by threes would be the best approach (I do believe that your mobo supports triple channel). This would effectively double the ram you currently have.

As I have said before, I think that 500gb is a better option for an ssd (assuming that you can swing the price). It would give you plenty of room for your os, programs, and games. I fear that filling up an ssd would be really easy to do once you start installing games and programs on there.

As for the cpu cooler, I think that you would be better off going with an air cooler at that price point. You will see much better performance with an air cooler than with an H60, if I'm not mistaken.

But I already have 6GB triple channel. So in that case I don't even have to invest in newer RAM.

Do you not have 6 slots for ram? I was just saying to add another set of three along with the three you already have.

Ah yes so I would have 12GB in total. I get it. Yes that would really be a great investment in that case, for that price.

My only concern, now, is if the 780 will fit in my CM 690 NVIDIA Edition case.

Measure how much length you have to play with. How long of a card can you fit in there? You need ~11"
