had a 6950 2gb for a while looking decent upgrade (ideally as cheap as possible ) play loads of games from skyrim witcher 2 far cry 3 to diablo 3 and total war
now there is one thing i have to mention i do also have 6950 1gb which i often run in crossfire (dunno if the memory makes a difference) alot of games run a lot better but some do not make much of a difference and some no affect and i am really susceptible to things like microstutter (which in crossfire happens a lot ) and image tearing to

thanks looks pretty good the newer 270 series are they just rebranded 7870 ?
Flash the 6950 to a 6970. Boom! Free performance. Then get another 6970! Moar performance!!!!!!!!!!
cheers tried flashing the bios ages ago didnt work unfortunetly :( however got a great deal on a 270x
You are not too smart... 6950=1408 shaders 270X=1280 shaders
A 6950 is faster than a 270X.
it's a different architecture dumbass
that said it's barely an upgrade, certainly not worth the money, 6950's about as fast as a 7850 last i checked
Going to a R9 270X from HD 6950 is kinda like a half-step up. The R9 270X will probably be like 15% faster in general using 10% less power than an HD 6950. On the upside the R9 270X supports DirectX 11.2 and OpenGL 4.3 and I suspect will probably support DirectX 12 when it comes out.

cost me less then 120 euro for the 270x think its a over clocked variant to
Judging from benchmarks from what i have seen seems like the stock 270x compared with a 6970 varies from 10fps + on a lot of games
