So, in January I put together my first build in nearly 15 years. I used some cheap parts for sure, but I feel like it's time to fix some mistakes and rebuild this thing.
Let's see:
Case: Raven RV04 ($179) (Originally I used the Silverstone Redline 01 budget case. I like it, but its cheap and I can't put a decent cooler in it. The new Raven has been getting some bad feedback, but its kind of nice, and the right hand window will work well in the space I have available.)
CPU: FX 4300. ($0) (Cheap and craptacular, I know. But its not bad. If I'm gonna stick with AM3 until steamroller, I can't see any point upgrading until then)
Cooler: Xigmatek Dark Knight Hawk ($45) (I love this cooler. I love xigmatek. I can't fit any decent coolers into the RL01, and the Antec Kuhler I bought is even to big. This AMD stock hsf has been killing me for over 6 months. With a new case, it's time for something good)
Memory: GSkill Ares Ripjaws 2x4gb ($0) (I already have this)
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 620w ($89) (Im trying to sell my Antec 500w for $60. Then I can get this one, which I believe is a SeaSonic S12II clone)
Motherboard: Asrock 970 Extreme3 ($0) (this is a revision 1 board. It's what I already have and works just fine with the 4300. Will do for now.)
GPU: Sapphire 7950 VaporX ($319) (I really like this card, and this custom cooler. This is a pretty significant upgrade from my 7850, which I believe I can sell for $100)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500gb HDD & Corsair Force 60gb SSD ($0) (I already have both of these. The Seagate currently in use/the Corsair is a return I got for extremely cheap)
OS: Win 8 OEM ($105) (decided I should shell out for a system builder version rather than buying a new license every time I build).
Let me know if I missed anything. I'm pretty drunk.
