(Updated 10-21-12) New Gaming Rig

Edit: Thanks for the insight. and input.

I'm going switch out the Kingston HyperX SSD for the OCZ Vertex 4. I think that the Vertex 4 is better for reliability as well as durability.

Overall, the comp that I'm building will probably get out dated in 4-5 years, which is fine by me. My current desktop I bought in late 2008 was considered mid/low range at the time.

Also, I'm going buy a new power supply just because I could probably get it for 70 after the rebate.

Also, I'll probably put the order in later this week, and say forget Cyber Monday/Black Friday.

Here is what I'm looking at for a new computer

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155

Motherboard:   ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX

CPU Cooler:  CORSAIR CWCH60 Hydro Series H60

Video Card:    HIS IceQ H787Q2G2M Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX

Hard Drive:

New:  OCZ Vertex 4 256 GB SATA III (MLC)

Replacing:Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3/120G 2.5" 120GB Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Memory:   Mushkin Enhanced Redline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)

Power:   Thermaltake TR2 RX 750W Bronze SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC

I do have this in my current computer:

Cooler Master's Real Power Pro RS-650-ACAA-A1 PSU

Case:  Fractal Design Arc Midi Black

OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit     Not ready for Win8 and I think

I'm still deciding if I should buy it now or wait until Cyber Monday.

Thanks for helping

Might be worth waiting for. When is cyber Monday anyway?

Get the h80 over the h60, quite a bit better temp wise.

Also I don't think that's that great of a PSU but i'll let someone else recommened a good one.

Also with the GPU consider getting the non GHz edition, you can just OC it yourself and it will be the exact same the only thing AMD did was better sensors and a new BIOS.

Thermal take makes nice power supplies so there's no reason to switch that out. If you're going to spend any more on a cooler then you might as well just get phanteks' flagship cooler. Don't the ghz edition cards usually come with better coolers?

I think you're a bit confused. All 7870s are Ghz Editions. Only the 7970s that have both ghz and non-ghz editions.

Your current PSU is good enough for all that as long as you don't overload any one of the three rails.

I haven't read the greatest things about thermaltake power supplys around the net.  Tiny Tom Logan from OC3D won't go near anything Thermaltake.  He's had a tone of experience with hardware so that just reinforces the bad things I've heard about'em.

Have a look at Antec, Cooler Master, Seasonic, Silverstone and Corsair power supplys up in that 750w range and be sure it has a single 12v rail with around 60amps or so.

november 26th is a long ways away

I would definitely stay away from Antec. I've heard a lot of bad stories about their power supplies just frying themselves. I recommended one to my friend in 2010, so he went out and bought one. When he plugged it into his system and turned on the computer, all the lights in his apartment went out and he had to flip the breaker to get them back on. He got back to his computer and he said his psu smelled like something was burning and his system wouldn't turn on.

I've been hearing similar things around the net about Antec's PSUs.
