UPDATE on Thermaltake Level 10

I'm posting some pictures of the retail version for your viewing pleasure. This puppy now sells on NewEgg for $849USD.

INSTALLATION PICTURES:

What do you guys think? I think it's definitely a nice case--one of the
best. It seems like a really solid case as far as build quality. Surprisingly,
it's a little on the heavy side, but not as heavy as say a Thermaltake
Armor or even a Lian Li P80. But as you can see it can easily fit in
two GTX 295 Co Op cards with enough room left over for liquid
cooling---Impressive by any standards, I'd say.

Thoughts? Opinions? Aggression? Perversion? Anything?

Did you buy it or did you just find these pictures. It looks kinda... stupid actually, but it's still pretty badass.

These pictures are courtesy of my friend Craig over at PC Persepctive (pcper.com).

I'd be okay with the looks if I got that kind of functionality.

...And if I got it for free.

Yeah, but it doesn't even appear to have that great of cooling. Maybe I just wasn't looking in the right spot.

I just wish if it's lot taller and it has 10 expansion slots, but other than that, the design looks OK. Even most people criticised on the thermal design. However, I'm just glad that they got rid of the biege colour of the motherboard door and some other parts that used to have that colour on the prototype.

That case is not worth even a quarter of what they are asking for it in my opinion

Once again the aesthestics and look outway common sense and actual cooling performance!

Let's hope TT could do some refurbishments on this case, what do you guys think?

What if I told you that not only does it NOT have bad cooling--but it out performs the Corsair Obsidian 800D, the Coolermaster HAF 932, and at idle, maintains an ambient temperature of only 1 degree warmer than the Silverstone Fortress. The break down is as follows:

Ambient temperatures:
Thermaltake Level 10 - ambient room temperature 21.5°C

Corsair Obsidian Series 800D - ambient room temperature 25.3°C

Cooler Master HAF 932 - ambient room temperature 25.3°C

SilverStone Fortress - ambient room temperature 21.3°C

15mins @ Idle:
Thermaltake Level 10 - 23.4C
Corsair Obsidian 800D - 26.1
HAF 932 - 26.1
Silverstone Fortress - 22.4

Stress testing with three instances of Prime95 along with 3DMark06 at 1,920x1,200 4xAA 16xAF--temps after 1 minute:
Level 10 - 23.4C
Obsidian 800D - 26.4
HAF 932 - 27.0
Fortress - 22.7

After one hour of the same load:
Level 10 - 24.6C ---CPU temp was 62.0C--GPU was 69.0
Obsidian 800D - 29.1---CPU was 63.0--GPU was 75.0
HAF 932 - 27.6---CPU was 61.0--GPU was 71.0
Fortress - 23.8---CPU was 57.0--GPU was 70.0

The Level 10 was found to be the quietest of the bunch, while in some areas the Fortress was obviously the better choice. All testing was done with stock coolers, fans, etc.

A little liquid cooling or even some good high end fans and you're golden. The point is not that the Level 10 is the best case ever--it's just been proven to be otherwise--just that it does have better cooling than a great deal of cases out there, believe it or not.

Is it worth the $850 price tag? HELL NO.

Although I can say that after having my hands on it I can say it's a very thoughtfully designed case. Extreme consideration was given to all the elements of this case, with the exception of one---The fan in the main housing with the motherboard and whatnot doesn't move a lot of air. It's very, very quiet but there are better fans out there that move more than 65-70 CFM while maintaining a 17-19dB rating.

This may not be one of the BEST cases out there, but should they decide to crank the price down to maybe $235-$300, it would be a very nice piece.

I think the case looks fantastic, but I REALLY don't see it selling well with that fucked up of a price tag. i mean i would get a new gpu cpu or motherboard ANY DAY over a nicer case.

It didn't beat the 932, the 932 had 4 degrees higher ambient. If I add four degrees to the Level 10, it loses.

Looking back at my references, I also noted that the HAF in question was not the 932, but the mid tower 922. My bad.

Like I said, I totally agree that $850 is BEYOND ridiculous. I've also realized the case was primarily designed by BMW DesignWorks, which explains the grossly inflated price tag.

One could build an entire budget gaming PC with the price tag of this case--although something tells me anyone spending $850 on a case is probably looking to make more of a 'visual' statement than anything.

If i worked a job that made me 200K + a year
