Just looking for information/advice on wether to build or buy? Old Toshiba Equium laptop started to overheat alot reccently and now wont stay on for any significant period of time so now looking to upgrade.
I'm unsure to build as i would only be using the pc for work related docs and the odd time id like to play some C&C (whenever the newest relese is) so maybe a new laptop might sufice?
I live in the uk so any pricing or availibility would need to be over here.

Whats your Budget ? and have you tried taking a can of compressed air to blow out the vents in your laptop ?
Budget is around 800 pounds, not got compressed air tried using a hairdryer but i think the cpu fan is actully failing to come on now rather than not being able to cope due to dust. The fan was constantly on during use and got really hot so im wonding if maybe its permanent damage?

You Tube has some good videos on how to actually take your laptop apart properly. This might be your answer to either replacing a fan or just a proper cleaning. You actually get to the guts by removing the keyboard, not the bottom of the unit like I first thought. You will have to first and foremost, unplug and remove the battery. You will at least get the satisfaction of finding out yourself if the unit is repairable or not. The if not, go shopping.
