to clear things up. I just built my first rig. I have an SSD with windows 7 that I currently use on my laptop. Build: i5 6600k, Asrock extreme7+, G.Skill 16gb 3200, rosewill 750watt. Now I have connected my SSD to my new pc. The keyboard and mouse work in BIOD but booting up the SSD is a no go. I have booted in safe mode networking and still the keyboard nor mouse respond.
I tried to install my asrock drivers on my laptop but there was an error prompt "error this utility is not for this platform" I agree but I thought I could manage to download the drivers
Is there anything I can do because the reinstallation is pain and if there is a way to bypass the error and install those asrock drivers on my SSD through my samsung (AMD plat) laptop that would be great.
yes, USB 2.0, as In when I boot into my SSD the keyboard and mouse are unresponsive.
I did figure it out because I finally read something. z170 chip supports the XHCI drivers that are in new operating systems. Windows 7 drivers is something like AHCI (I think that's what it goes by) so to get the keyboard and mouse to work I had to turn on PS/2 emulator in BIOS. Which was amazing, because I struggled for 4 days of not figuring shit out
lol you should just deal with it. Plug and play does not work well when you change everything, including the chipset and CPU. You're kinda playing with fire here. I've done it, and in my own experience it just leads to bigger problems later.
You're really better off with a reinstall. My guess is your chipset isn't coming through.
