Ultimate home server grudges

So… I tool great inspiration from Wendell’s * Low Power/High Performance Server GRUDGE MATCH! DeskMeet, Ryzen, and Supermicro Micro-Tower Server* video.

And I bought:
An Asrock Deskmeet
An i7-12700
2 x 32 Gb Crucial DDR4 3200 RAM (for all the VMs)
2 x 1Tb Crucial NVME SSDs (for a truenas special device)
1 1Tb Crucial 2.5 inch SSD (for the OS)
2 x Toshiba 12 Tb MG07ACA12TE 3.5 inch drives

So my primary issues are that the 3.5 inch drives are not mountable in the Deskmeet as they don’t have a middle set of screw holes on the bottom.
Which means that the one which would be mounted on the top of the case can only be secured by two screws which seems way too tenuous.

And my secondary issue is that the PSU has only 2 SATA power outlets.

I am now in the process of trying to macgyver some manner of drive cage to have both 3.5 inch drives kind of piggybacking above the RAM and replacing the PSU with a Cooler Master MPY-5501 SFX both to gain some more space for my drive mounting and power for the SATA SSD (for the booting OS).

Would love all the helpful hints you’ve got.

I reckon the Fight Club rules for building an Asrock Deskmeet server would be;

  1. Don’t build a server in an Asrock Deskmeet
  2. Don’t build a server in an Asrock Deskmeet
  3. Don’t build a server in an Asrock Deskmeet

Apart from that it all looks pretty good.
