Ubuntu/Pop + Asrock Taichi X570 Wireless

Has anyone here been able to get the onboard wireless working with the Taichi X570 in Ubuntu or Pop!_OS?

My installations can’t even recognize that there is a wireless adapter. Googling has not been helpful as yet…

No luck here on 18.04 or 19.04.

I’m having the same problem on ASRock X570 Phantom Gaming ITX/TB3. Can’t find any WiFi or BT adapter on Ubuntu 19.10 or Manjaro 18.1.1.

[edit]
In my situation it actually looks like there’s something wrong with the motherboard or BIOS.

It’s likely a Intel AX chip and it requires the firmware to be installed along with either a backport of iwlwifi or a kernel newer than 5.1.

[Solved]

  1. Upgraded to Pop!_OS 19.10 .
  2. Today (26-Oct-2019) the Pop!_Shop showed that the driver “backport-iwlwifi-dkms” was available.
  3. Installed it and now the mobo wifi works!

I guess it was just a question of waiting…

You are right. It needed the backport of iwlwifi.
