Ubuntu Menu Bar Missing

For some reason the menu bar is missing whenever i go on ubuntu 12.04. And no matter what i do it just dosent seem to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Elaborate. Did you just upgrade to 12.04? Did you fool around in compiz and wrecked something? Or did it just decide to not show up one day. Also, are you using the default Unity DE? Try running the folowing command if  so:

sudo service lightdm restart

that should restart your windows manager in unity.

If you are using compiz run this command:

ccsm

That will launch the configuration manager. Tinker around a bit, try to find a setting responsible for this.

If you're using gnome, it's as simple as adding a panel.

Finally, if all fails, select Ubuntu 2D on the login screen from that little icon next to your username, and see if the problem persists.

If none of this works, you can always reinstall ubuntu, or switch to a differnet DE. Try old school Gnome 2.

Whatever the problem is, you will get a lot more feedback on ubuntuforums.org

Try doing what Arijan said,But instead of gnome 2 I think you would like Gnome 3 more if you actually like unity.
