Ubuntu 16.04: Worth upgrading?

Hello everyone.

This might seem like a nooby question, as I'm not a very "advanced" Linux user.
Right now I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and I'm pretty happy with it. Does anyone have good experience with the new LTS version already? Is it worth upgrading to? I know about the new features and new look and such... Just wanted to know if it's also as reliable and stable and if I'll be happy using it like I was using 14.04.

Also, to the people that used the built-in backup feature. Is it really as reliable as everyone keeps claiming or should I just backup my data the old fashioned way?

Thanks a lot and peace.

I upgraded to 16.04 on my Netflix notebook and apart from one issue everything seems fine. Keep in mind though that the only thing this laptop is used for is watching Netflix stuff.

Issue: the built in vnc server (vinosomething) does not start properly. I have tu run this command via ssh before connecting to the vnc server: export DISPLAY=:0.0 && /usr/lib/vino/vino-server

I've been using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS for a few months (and enjoying the OS), I did start-out on Linux Mint, but trialled Ubuntu, and fell in love with it.

Windows 10 updates forced my hand to jump to Linux, yes, there is a learning-curve, but the switch to Ubuntu was worth it.

*I may compile a post on my experiences with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

I've had some driver issues and goofiness with 16.04. Nothing major, but if you really prioritize smoothness and stability, it might be worth waiting a bit longer for all of the little issues to be ironed out.

Enterprises usually wait until at least a year after a new OS has been released to upgrade, and I tend to think that this is in general a good idea. But, if you don't mind a bit of potential fiddling and want to test out the new features, go for it! You've got a whole forum of people here who can help you to troubleshoot if anything goes wrong.

i had more issues with ubuntu than mint but actually after a few hours of tweaking (new icons, themes, tray apps, nautilus extensions it was pretty awesome. I don’t mind Unity but i haven’t found it to be as stable on workspaces as other DE's like gnome, kde, cinnamon.

fyi if you like unity side bar but don’t feel that docky cuts it or gnome is not right for you then Cinnamon 3.0 will introduce horizontal panels.. at which point it will look like a Unity/Gnome hybrid

Thanks everyone!
