U.2 USB Enclosure?

A couple years ago Wendell did a great video about the Icy Dock adapter that let you connect a U.2 drive to a PC via USB.

I’m looking for an enclosure like that where the drive is completely enclosed instead of a dock, some way to turn a U.2 drive into a portable USB drive. Bus powered would be preferred.

Does anyone know of such a product?

Yep, just gotta be picky a out formfactor like what size m.2 it will take and the interface speed

You can find them on Amazon and AliExpress just search type c m.2 enclosure

For AliExpress look for ones with reviews with pictures of crystal disk mark confirming the speeds

Thanks, but I’m looking for a U.2 enclosure not an M.2 enclosure.

That kinda thing might be more rare and you’d probably need to make your own contraption

That’s what I was worried about, I’m looking for something I can deploy to a whole workforce at scale. Looking at U.2 due to higher capacities and write endurance.

There aren’t enclosures but dock adapters and they need a wall adapter as well

Better for a stationary thing rather than portable

Thank you for that. If I was able 3D print a cover for the docking station and secure the drive with double-sided tape or even a command strip, that could work. Appreciate the help!

U.2 can get toasty so you may want to incorporate a small fan or vents to let it breathe
