TW:Rome 2 The new Aliens:Colonial Marines?

A few of my friends got absolutely screwed, i don't think that they will preorder or buy games before the reviews come out.

Just a warning to fellow gamers: The game is in an unplayable state, graphics look nothing like the ones from the trailers, the AI is horrible mess, it might get patched but don't buy it until that happens.

I have lost any hope in Sega, won't buy any games published by them.

I also have given up with Sega and just watched the Angry Joe review...hes not impressed!

God Aliens was such a let down booooo ;'(

It's not everyone, I am pretty impressed with Rome 2 and haven't had many issues. Definitely needs some polish. My friends are unluckier than me, seem to have problems with the AI messing up. Though, they all enjoy the game, it is a disappointing start.

Big performance patch coming in the next week. The current updates haven't focused on the performance at all, which is the biggest complaint most people have, including me. It's playable, but desperately needs fixing.

The last thing they want to do following this catastrophe, is to have huge amounts of paid DLC, or unit packs. It is rumoured that there could be unit packs. I'm patiently waiting for the patches, playing the game casually, but paid DLCs would piss me off.

Soooo... what do we think the next Total War game will be? And will it be better? ;D

no, everyone buy it, i wan't more stuff like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbBHk_zLTmY

Well, i certainly don't LOL. More people need to know that this game is half arsed and needs a lot of fixes and tweaks before it is in a playable state.

I wouldn't call it unplayable. I've already got 70 hours of gameplay on that game, and I really like it. For me, they just need to fix a few performance dips and balance some aspects of the game.

Others have had some serious issues, though. The AngryJoe reviews have revealed stuff that I have not personally encountered, with the exception of the naval battles glitches. Naval battles definitely suck.

Personally I have found it works great. A couple of bugs here and there but really nothing terrible.

I understand there is a lot of variation with the performance people are experiencing. Mine has been pretty good on ultra settings (the ones on by default, tried setting lower shadows and particle effects lower but I lost around 10 FPS funnily enough). I get an average of 35 FPS on the bench mark with a 58 ish to 24 ish extreme due to drops which is a bit annoying.

Feel sorry for people who have been having crazy difficulties with power systems.

That's pretty much what I am experiencing. I haven't had half the problems Angry Joe (youtuber) has had, where the AI would fail to attack him. Nor the capture points in an open battlefield. I just haven't seen half these problems.

Anyway, there's a pretty big performance patch in beta. People can now download it via Steam. It really smooths out the FPS. There's more performance patches to come, including the official release of the current beta 2.0.

After the performance is fixed for most people, they will fix some of the AI bugs, then some of the balancing.

Well I know some of the issues are from people not understanding how this game is meant to be played yet. The total war forums are nuts with people getting unproductively mad about things (though some have had just a legitimately awful time).

Now straight away it sounds like I am about to make excuses; I'm not.

I mean that say with the flag in open field battles, from what I know they only appear when you have been using forced march. The idea is it represents the fact your supply train is stretch, your combat discipline has been compromised in order to get greater speed out of the troops, etc.
I haven't actually encountered it yet because I don't use the forced march.

With your troops abandoning formation, well you can lock in groups and people don't seem to realise that. They maintain the shape and geometry of the whole army if you wish all while marching across the field.

The AI has been fine for me. I have had some be aggressive, some some probing attacks, some reasonable diplomacy, some neutrality, and so on. Basically I'm getting a fine spectrum of behaviours that relates to positions on the map and my own actions.

There are problems but I feel they are being addressed. I'm just glad my performance has been consistently good enough to ignore the bugs and issues that would probably be salt in the wound if I was still getting 10 FPS.

I agree. I was telling someone in another thread that the reason the family tree is missing is because you can endlessly assassinate your own characters. If you have characters being generated all the time, the family tree would look somewhat out of place. They had to do away with the old, to make way for the new. Literally, people haven't had time to get familiar with the new features.

The new politics system has more user input. The army traditions are much more than upgrading your general with the same trait tree. All my armies and generals would have the same stats in Shogun 2. There was no diversity.

I think they could balance it more. They should increase the difficulty of political decisions with the game difficulty.

I think this is the best Total War to date. It is a shame that it is lost on people. Act like babies throwing toys out of a pram, when they need to be more open. I didn't want a reskin of every Total War game I have played until now. I started way before the original Rome, and it was time for something new.
