Turris Omnia - badass opensource, autoupdating router!

Since they didnt mentioned in the tek, i decided to create forum topic about it :D

Turris Omnia will be open-source router made by .cz domain "administrators" (or how to call them :D). They currently have campaign on indiegogo, so go check them out!

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/turris-omnia-hi-performance-open-source-router#/

or here https://omnia.turris.cz/en/

long story short:
- Open hardware running free operating system based on OpenWrt
- dual-core ARM CPU at 1.6 GHz
- Secure default configuration, easy setup and automatic updates

I think they should really mention this in The Tek, since even your american provider Comcast gave them some money and this will be really good device for people that want to be secure without knowing much :)

Looks neat but you can build a pfsense box for nearly the same price. But if the wifi is really good it may be worth it.

I look forward to network tests with it.

ye, but they probably want to target not-so-pro people - someone who can setup "normal" router without building something on his own + doing whole installation and hardcore setup.

For example i bought mikrotik rb2011, its awesome router, fast, updates nearly every week etc... but setting up something in it, if you dont know what to do is pretty hard.. even had to google how to open and redirect ports :D

Anyone got theirs yet?

you can buy them at stores now (only 2 czech ones) for bit more money tho

I just got mine recently, and it's already up and running like a charm. The only thing that there seems to be issues with is the SFP port paired with some fiber adapters. My ISP (www.init7.ch) is working on it, check their twitter account for updates
