I have just upgrade to a new PC from a Z77 Sabertooth to the ASrock Z170 extreme 7. I saw in Wendell's review that he got linux to run on it. I have made sure secure boot is off and tried booting from a disk and a usb drive and have had no luck. The distros I have tried are Manjaro, Linux mint 17.3, and Ubuntu Gnome 15.10. I can get the grub loader screen up but when I select install or try without installing and hit enter it crashes.

The sata ports on the board were the issue
have you tried legacy boot?
