Trying to gain access to my router

I want to set up a new router that has a more powerful wireless reach, but i am having issues with the settings. if i could get into the router that my ISP has provided, it would make the setup easier as i could look at their settings. the ISP will not give me the settings nor the username and password.

can anyone help me get in without resetting it to factory defaults?

Info-

Brand: HUAWEI

Model: HG530

Name: Home Gateway

ISP: Telecom Italia via US Navy

if your ISP is not very smart it should be something like this:

username: admin

password: admin

http://portforward.com/default_username_password/Huawei.htm

That should work.

On the back of the modem/router, there will be an reset button, use a little pin to push that reset button, hold i a few seconds, and you modem/router will be restored to factory defaults, this will be included user name and password. must likely you can login directly into the modem / router, without and password at all. Or you just have to do a google hit  "standard login HUAWEI HG530"

Edit: check Phantom's post above, for factory default passwords.

Grtz Angel ☺

Maybe they have locked it down for a reason.  Perhaps too many people who think they know what they are doing tinkering where they shouldn't and now the ISP have to fix the "my internet isn't working" calls.

Phone them tell them who you are, how knowledgeable you are etc  they MAY relent and let you in or...

Quite probably as they use a lot of Huawei routers they will have some sort of agreement with Huawei who  will have coded into the firmware dedicated passwords ( so no admin/admin even if you did go for a full reset) for the ISP.

admin/admin doesn't work, it isn't the default anymore. i cannot reset it due to loosing the setting they have setup. i could try talking to them again, but the Italian ISPs don't seem to be willing to work with people. they just don't care. it's something i've been getting used to over the past 3 1/2 years.

Did you read the guide I posted to find the name and password from the sticker? Ofr is that the default you said didnt work? It wont be admin/admin for that router.

Which settings are you talk about? port forwardings and wifi settings? you can just set them again? whats the big deal?

You wont basicly not loose isp settings, because, most isps, use DHCP, so after a reset. it should all work again. if your isp does not work with DHCP this would be very rare, but could be, then you have to set your ip adress, subnetmask and dns servers by hand ☺ But i dont think that would be needed, cause most todays isps work with DHCP servers.

your router web interface is accessed from  192.168.1.1

user=admin (by default)

pass=admin (by default)

Your ISP username and password is usually the email address and password you were given when originally setting up your internet service which is generally the same for your ADSL access.

You may also want to try;  user = aliceadsl / pass = aliceadsl

the default iaw that list is admin/admin and it doesn't work

i read about the email stuff, but my ISP doesn't provide any email services.

tried the aliceadsl after you posted it, but still no joy.

the deal is i want to use a new router. i can't get it to work with any setting i try. i want access to the crap ISP router so i can use the same exact settings. unless someone knows how to set up an adsl modem for telicom italia on a US Navy base, i'm going to need the setting from the old router.

either try

admin

password

or

user

user

just reset the thing, how hard can it be? ☺

  1. Find Your Huawei Router Model Number

Look in the left column of the Huawei router password list below to find your Huawei router model number.

  2. Find Your Huawei Router Username

Look one column to the right of your router model number to see your Huawei router's user name.

  3. Find Your Huawei Router Password

You know the drill. Look another column to the right to find your Huawei router's password.

Did you try that, as well?

try

user: admin

pw: the wifi password

tried all of the above, no resetting, still no joy. talked with the lead Italian who runs telicom italia for the navy base. they have a "black list" programmed into the router as well as some software that is required for the telicom access. that is why they require their router/modem and why they do not give you the password (at least on base). thanks anyway.

they changed the login and password. the listed login/password for the hg530, admin/admin, from your earlier post does not work. i did look at the list.

Why bother fiddling with the router of your isp, just get another router that you own and treat your isp's router like a modem. You can easily circumvent blocked ports etc by using a vpn to tunnel though all the nonsense.

I recommend getting a router that runs openwrt, and setup a vpn on that.

Choose a vpn service that works with OpenVpn

For router: Buffalo WHR-HP-300GN, Netgear WNDR3800, TP-Link TL-WR1043ND,
TP-Link TL-WDR3600. should work with OpenWrt.

Ops post.
