This is gonna be my first Non-pre-built pc. The graphics card I choose is MSI GTX970 GAMING GDDR5 4GB 256Bit DX12. 16 GB RAM. 250GB SSD. 2TB HDD. I'm planning to use this rig for Video editing, and gaming. But gaming is my priority here. So what process should I choose? An FX 9590 or an i7 4770k/4670k? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
So this is the rest:
Samsung 250GB 840 EVO SATA 3.0 (Okuma 540MB / Yazma 520MB) SSD
WD 3.5" 2TB Caviar Green Sata 3.0 64MB Cache intellipower HDD
CORSAIR RM SERİSİ 80PLUS GOLD 850W FULL MODÜLER PSU
GIGABYTE 970A-UD3P AMD 970/SB950 AM3+ DDR3 2000MHz (O.C.) Anakart
ZALMAN Z11 PLUS MidT ATX SİYAH KASA
Kingston 16GB (2x8GB) HyperX Beast DDR3 1600MHz CL9 XMP Ram
MSI GTX970 GAMING GDDR5 4GB 256Bit Nvidia GeForce DX12 GPU
Gaming is a toss up between the two. Games like Skyrim will take advantage of per core performance while games like Crysis prefer overall core count. GPU will be a much more indicative factor as far as gaming-centric rig. For Editing however, I'd say an i7 would be more beneficial for you, however, Storage speed, ram speed & bandwidth, Open CL, and Cuda processor can also more than make up for editing where CPU alone can not.
Personally, I wouldn't even consider the FX 9590. If you're gonna go the AMD route, just get the FX 8350 with something like a Noctua NH-D15, and then overclock the piss out of it.
With that being said, what's your budget? What currency do you use? Do you need peripherals and/or an OS? Do you live within a reasonable distance of a Microcenter? Answer these questions, and I can crank out a couple of decent builds for ya.
Well, for me personally 220W TDP would be a dealbreaker. Considering you want to do video encoding, i would go with Intel
Allright thanks for the help.
I'm from Turkey so the budget stuff will get complicated when you try to calculate it as dollars and there are taxes and stuff. My bugdet for the CPU is around what those CPUs cost. But I dont mind paying a few extra bucks for a better choice.
I don't mind the whole 220W thing. The PSU is gonna be 850W and I dont care about a extra energy cost.
Well, since you mentioned video editing, the Core i7 4770k will be much more suitable for your build - if possible, go for the Core i7 4790k, the higher core clock will give you a boost in overall performance; and about the AMD FX 9590, I don't find it attractive due to its lower single core performance and massive power consumption.
Just get the i7-4790k. The 220w tdp also comes with crazy heat output. You'll need some of the beefiest air coolers or a 240mm watercooler to even get that thing running in respectable temperatures. If you're looking for a room heater though, then maybe that's an option.
i7's , if you can ; get the newer ones .
For the moment at least , for me amd is out of the game for higher end .
Video editing will be better on the i7 too , and resell price will be better .
+ 1 .... 4790K
If you have the budget for an i7, then get the i7, specifically the i7 4790k. It's an all-around faster processor than AMD's highest end CPU. Assuming you're going to be doing a large amount of video editing, then the i7 is the better processor between the two. However, if you're only going to be working with simple edits such as cutting video and adding music to gameplay, then the i5 4690k or the FX 8350 may be a better choice. That would allow you to put the money you saved towards a better GPU.
I can barely afford 4770k so 4790k would be a difficult one for me.
Allright. Thanks.
I think I'm gonna buy a 4770k/4790k. Thanks for the help guys.
Thanks for the info.
4790K no brainer realy.
go 4790k. the 4770k's have too many issues for me to be comfortable with.
i recently bought a 4790k, coming from a 8350 which was OCed at 5.1ghz, still have the same 780 in my system for now, but i noticed in SOME games i was seeing 20 to 30+ fps gains. particularly my heavily modded skyrim. not all games.
just a thought.
Exactly. The 9590 is basically just an 8350 that's guarunteed to be able to hit 5ghz. And honestly watch Logans video on his rig vs Pistols rig, they talk about how little difference the 9590 made compared to her 8350. Just get an 8350 or an 8370 and overclock it. Maybe use an H110i and try for 5.2ghz XD
To be totally honest, if you have money, go for Intel. But if you need to get a lot of bang for your buck, AMD is your best friend.
you are completely right about this, skyrim is a cpu + gpu bound game, and runs much better on a intel cpu.
FX was holding your 780 back.
