Trying ABBA update on my mobo. ACPI cpufreq driver is borked?

I just applied the ABBA update to my 3900x mobo. I run Debian Sid on it (currently running debian kernel 5.2). I notice that the ACPI power controller seems to be missing - it won’t load anymore. It seems that something is wrong with it? Is this kernel specific? Or something else?

$ modprobe acpi-cpufreq modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'acpi_cpufreq': No such device

Maybe /var/log/messages might yield a clue as to why it won’t load?
I like the “dmesg” command to see what the kernel is doing after a reboot.
