I have been attempting to install Ubuntu on my pc for a long time and I've heard that Gigabyte mobos don't mix well with linux. (I have a Gigabye GA-990fxa-UD3) So I'm wondering from those of you who are more proficient with linux, do you have any recomendations on what are good boards specifically for linux?
I've tried installing from usb and dvd but they yeild the same results of not even being able to get through the setup phase of installing.
My specs:
AMD FX-6300
GA-990fxa-ud3
GTX 750ti
8GBs corsair vengeance
I had no issues with my ASUS Sabertooth 990 FX. I just had to disable secure boot and it was fine.
Have not used GA motherboards for a while now thus so I have no idea how they are doing. But also have not heard good things about them.
I have had issues with IOMMU and VT-d on the
Gigabyte 970a-ds3p
Either the USB 3.0 or the Ethernet would work with that switched on or off.
ASUS M5A990FX Pro
Had Issues with onboard sound, tracked it down to the current included alsa drivers, the beta Alsa drivers can fix the issue but it is very hit or miss and a lot of work.
Cool, thanks guys. :) My next board will probably be an Asus or MSI, any suggestions?
I have an older Gigabyte board running Ubuntu GNOME with no issue.
