Triple monitor vs ultra wide

so assume you have a sweet GPU, would you choose either a 29inch ultra wide monitor, or set up a triple monitor set up?

i personaly would go with the triple monitor, then you can multi task better, and use it for hardcore gaming.

Depends on the game perhaps. Like in driving games triple monitors are great, but with shooters I think you'll get a good enough effect with the ultra wide. It's difficult to pick up meaningful details on the far sides in a fast paced shooter anyway, and with triple monitors the game will spend a lot of resources drawing graphics in high detail that you're not really looking at. If it's a game with modern graphics.

Programming/developing/designing is another beast altogether. Go go monitor stand.

I work in IT and use my home computer all the time  for work. I just ordered 3 Dell S2715h's. This is so can work from home if needed and also triple monitor gaming. I love the thin bezel and IPS screen. While I like the ultra wide monitors I hate black bars in my games at any time so I would rather use 1 1080P screen and avoid the 21:9 issues that can arise.

My perfect set-up would be 1080x1920 1440x1080 1080x1920

3 of these would be absolute BOSS... they just started dropping in price due to the 4K craze, but it's 1440p, 27", IPS, 60hz, and the monitor stand allows for any adjustment needed... the bezel isn't the thinnest... but I paid $550 for mine a couple months back...

If the bezel bothers you and you just want immersive screen space, the ultrawides are a good middle ground, but nothing beats a multi-monitor setup for multi-tasking... Of course driving 3 1440p monitors for gaming would require a monster GPU setup... I've got a 780 classified and it drives one monitor fluidly, but I'd imagine 3 would bring it to it's knees on games that aren't demanding, much less triple A titles... so from a "how much do you want to invest" stance, a 1080p ultrawide would be MUCH easier to drive for gaming...

Of course just because you HAVE a 1440p monitor doesn't mean you need to game at that res
