I have the Asus DCUII 270x, and am trying to get three monitors to work, but only two at any time are working. I have a HDMI, DVI, and VGA monitors, with a DVI to VGA connector. It doesn't matter which if the two are connected, but only two will have an output at any given time. I've tried using a active DP to DVI adapter because on my old 6950 only 1 of the DVI ports worked while using the HDMI, but that didn't fix the problem here. Any suggestions?
that's odd... AMD actually fixed the r9 and r7 cards, so that you can use 3 "legacy" ports at the same time.
however, if using an active adapter does not work, it may be software relater, or simply a bad card....
implying the need to RMA?
try another monitor, and try wiping then reinstalling the drivers.
Tried both, neither work unfortunately
inherently active?
he eliminated that possible problem by testing with an active adapter.
displayport is purely digital, and VGA is analog. because of that, a passive displayport to VGA adapter is not possible.
One other thing I just found, in the Catalyst Control Center, it does show all the monitors under Creating and Arranging Desktops, and I can activate the third monitor but it forces me to disable a different one first.
that's true.
yeah, I agree, that's a likely cause too. i had a bad dp adapter myself, was giving me trouble with HDCP.returned the adapter, got a better one, now everything works without issue.
Where would it show as a DP device?
Also, when all three monitors are plugged, the monitors on DP and HDMI are the default ones to have an output, it is the VGA that isn't receiving anything so I'm inclined to say the the adapter does work and is giving a signal because I'm using that monitor to type this.
in the CCC, under creating and arranging, when you hover over the little monitor graphics, where it say "please select a display"
it is showing as a DVI
ok, thanks
The way I got around this issue on my old 6950 was to have the VGA monitor running on the iGPU, which I just tried with my new rig, the 2 monitor issue is occurring. I understand what was stated earlier about the graphics card only supporting 2 non-DP signals, but fail to understand why only two monitors will work at any given time regardless of whether they are plugged in to the motherboard or the graphics card.
