I'm kind of broke and don't want to spend an insane amount on the desktop i'm building right now, and I have a 500 GB 7200 RPM western digital HDD in my old desktop.. is there any possible way that I could wipe that hard drive, then put it into my new desktop, so that I don't have to buy a brand new, blank HDD off of newegg so that I save 50 bucks?
when you install the operating system (regardless of which) you will have the option to format the drive
Providing its got the correct connection type for your new motherboard and you have a bootable copy of windows then yeah you can, youl just need to format the drive when you boot for the first time on the new rig.
You will however loose everything on it, so back stuff up if u wanna keep it.
