Hi I am trying to upgrade my system. I have been using HHD for many years. I read on this forum that SSD is faster than HDD. So I also decided to upgrade my System Hard Drive.
I purchased and installed Samsung MZ-76P4T0BW SSD in my system. But My system is still booting from my old hard drive and I am not seeing any results.
Can you please guide me on how can I boot my system from the newly installed Solid State drive without losing my data?
SSD’s have been common place for the last 10+ years, so I’m guessing you’re not heavily into computer use (especially for work purposes). I’m assuming further that you may not be familiar with the process and it may be easiest to pay someone to do this.
If you’d like to try though, in summary:
Download imaging software (I use Macrium Reflect - there is a free version and everyone has their one they prefer)
Image the old HDD and restore it to the new SSD.
Shut down the machine
Remove the old HDD
Boot up the PC
It should recognise the new drive and boot from it, it is likely to start up and then say that it needs to reboot - that is normal.
