I'm going to build a custom computer soon and i was told to torrent my OS because then i could invest more in the components. One problem though, is that i have no idea where to download it from or who to trust. Please tell me where i can download a copy of Windows 7 ultimate or home premium.

If you are serious about using all of the features, then buy a f*cking copy of Windows. It isn't that much.

yes, just get the iso off microsoft(free) and from there you can get a keygen/activator. However... I would not pirate it and just get a copy for cheap if you are at a place where it is offered cheap or free legally like a university.

just buy a oem version of windows 7, it is a bit illegale to get via bit torrent.

I've found Ubuntu 12.10 to be pretty solid.  WOW(addons took some work), Diablo 3, Quakelive.  I know that isn't everything by any means.  But you can make run "wine" quite a bit now.

I say don't torrent when the free download is there.  Worse case scenario, get the free xp, and dumpster dive a windows key.  All of the computers I've unboxed has the windows key right on the box or bottom of the laptop.  I've seen it under the battery.  In my experience those keys are good to go.

I think that we wouldnt even bother torrenting the os if microsoft charged a decent price of £30 or $45 instead of what they are currently charging. Its like with steam why bother torrenting and not get the support when the games are so cheap to buy. Am i the only peron thinking this??

  • If you dislike paying for your windows so much & still wan to be sure that you don't get male-ware bombed,why don't you just learn how to crack it yourself, i mean the security holes which the activators use, are prety well documented.
  • But you can get a windows 7 OEM license for cheap now.

 

  • The way i always get my windows licenses for free is i buy a cheap laptop, use that licence for my gaming PC, install Linux on the laptop, properly config it & load tons of awesome Open source software on it, then i sell the laptop to people who just need a surf/email/text/media machine.That way everybody wins, i get a free gaming-OS an they get a super stable virus-resistant office computer.

But the OEM i not cheap. O-O It costs like 150$/95£. I don't find that very cheap :/
