I'm getting pretty high temps under any circumstance. When idle it sits at about 42C and when taking a MILD load it kicks up to 58-62 pretty quickly. Just getting feedback if this would be dangerous at all. I re applied better paste and put the cooler back on and there hasn't been much difference at all. Currently using the stock cooler. Haven't installed my other heatsink yet.
Those temps are perfectly fine. Try to stay below 75-80C
Really? I've been reading around and gotten that staying below 65-70 is the best idea. I haven't stress tested it yet and probably won't until I get my aftermarket cooler on it. It's fine with some games but if I run certain MMOs the temps shoot up super fast. I'm just super paranoid about it
The stock coolers on the fx cpus are well rubbish even a $20 aftermarket cooler is better than the stock one
Do you know if you posted temps under full load, it would be much easier to get a perception of your temps, just sayin'.
Laziness. But again I was just asking a question. Not going to OC it anytime soon so it should be fine. But what are good temps for the CPU while running a full load?
The Core temp Maximum for AMD processors should be under 65c, preferrably 60 or under
Try running prime95 for 20mins and see how high your temps go http://files.extremeoverclocking.com/file.php?f=205 (this will max your cpu to 100% to see if your cpu is stable)
Alright I ran it for exactly 20 minutes and the temps topped out at 71C under full load. In case I forgot to mention it, this is all also at stock settings with stock cooler.
Thats a little hot but your computer did not shut down so its stable just geting a cheap cooler if your not going to overclock will shave off 15-20c
Not shutting down does NOT mean stable, over 65c is NOT good, and 71c is wayy to hot for an AMD processor.
That's what I thought as well but I have various others around me running 6300 and 8350s that are running them at 70+ for hours at a time. Either way I'm going to try and get a better cooler when I get the money. I probably put too much paste on.
Those temps seem hot to me. BeyondNight has it right.
Well I installed a hyper 212 plus onto it and that dropped my temps down from 46 idle to 28-31 idle and running prime95 for 20 minutes it brought the max temp from 71C to topping out at 49C. So I should be in the clear now
I am one of those people that try to keep temps as low as possible, preferable 55 and under...then again, that's just my paranoid ass being afraid of even getting close to tjunk xD
Those temps with the Cooler Master sound MUCH more normal now. Glad it is working out for you.
Go and buy either the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo or the V8 CPU cooler. I use the V8 on my 8320 and my temps never go above 45-50 on full load (prime95).
Also, I would set up your motherboard to alert you when you temps get past a ceratin point, like 60 C or 70 C.
