Too many Y-Cables?

I'm planning on my first build these upcoming months and I have some
questions that need answering. The motherboard I will be using is the
new Asus Maximus 8 Hero which has 6 fan headers and I'm planning on
having 9 fans in my build. 7 fans for exhaust and intake then 2 more for
my noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler. I was thinking of using some Y cables to
connect the fans to the motherboard since I only have 6 fan headers. My
question is, will I damage the motherboard in any way by using this much
fan headers? I will be using 3 4pin Y cables to connect a total of 6
fans to 3 headers.
BTW I will be using All noctua fans for the build, the IPPC pwm 2000rpm ones.

Thanks in advanced :)

And all your connectivity issues are solved...

you can have up to 1A on eatch header

that is 5 x 140mm or 10 x 120mm per header with that noctua fan

Since a plethora of Y cables would not be visually appealing I would advise towards one splitter that splits directly from the PSU (mostly MOLEX connectors). That allows for nicer cable routing.

Not just that... It's not easy to work with... Yeah, you will set it once and forget about it... Until something happens, a fan starts rattling, the system needs cleaning a couple of months down the line, etc...
Just get the Fan hub... it will solve a lot of issues...
By the way, what case are gonna be used for the build?

You probably don't need 9 fans, but even so you could just use 3 pin to molex adapters

just get a pwm controller, all your problems are solved

It would be fine to plug them all into the mob, just don't plug them all into the same header. But if i was using that many fans i would get a fan controller. It will make it easier to control them all and make cable management easier.

here is the part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Ryn6Jx

Oh. That's a nice rig.

Yeah, with that budget you basically owe it to you to get yourself a PWM fan controller. Maybe even one of those nice ones for the 5,25 inch bay.

You have a lot of money to waste or what? Jesus that is unnecessarily expensive... Huge disagreement about some parts...
I shouldn't probably throw stones... My case is more expensive than my CPU...

OK, you can easily get Grid10 and have all fans hooked into it, or get Grid+ and control the fans...

Or you can get some 5,25" Bay fan controller...

Use this, You have 4pin PWM fans, so use 4 pin pwm splitter to control fan rpms, dont get 3 pin controllers or splitters! You might not be able to fit fan connector into those 3 pin controllers .

Thanks, I'll probably just go with this.
